Imagineaction – Imagine a Day Project 2012

At King Edward Public School in Windsor, Ontario Canada ,we are always looking for ways to enhance our school culture and when we came upon the book Imagine A Day by Rob Gonsalves and Sarah L. Thompson, through Imagineaction, we could not resist the opportunity to apply for a chance to work with this book and have the chance to meet the illustrator, Mr. Rob Gonsalves.

Our goal is to use the book as our inspiration to create a small video – Imagine a Day at King Edward… having the students create their own ideas and thoughts into various forms of media styles that we can show the world that our school is a great place. We also want to look at ways we can make our school better through decreasing incidents of bullying and increasing the opportunities of random acts of kindness by focusing on the great things that are happening. The project is currently underway and we have had a lot of fun spreading the word about the book and getting some ideas and/or phrases that could be used within our presentation.

Update: June 29, 2012 – Mr. Gonsalves and I have been chatting via email and this was his end of year response…

“I have watched your school’s slideshow on your blog and left a comment. It was wonderful to see it-I was very impressed with the work that the kids produced. I realize your school year has now come to a close, but if the students still had questions for me I would be happy to answer them. If you like, we could continue to communicate into the next school year so as to work out a way of getting my responses to any kids who may still be interested after returning to school in the fall. In any event, congratulations on your project, and thanks for honouring my work by choosing it as your point of inspiration.” Best Regards, Rob.

Our project at King Edward has taken its own path and I am looking forward to having the opportunity to continue to work with Rob Gonsalves in the upcoming school year. Thanks to Imagineaction and the “Listen, I Read” initiative, for giving us the opportunity to put our imagination to work and allow us to continue to work on this project into the future. Below are some of the pictures taken during our journey. Thanks again to Imagineaction for providing us the opportunity to Imagine a Day!
