Make a Difference Project!

THE YEAR OF MADNESS!

A YEAR OF MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

KING EDWARD STUDENTS ARE M.A.D.

MAD you say? Not in the angry sense, but the acronym sense of the word. King Edward students are Making A Difference in their lives and the lives of those around them in the school, community and world. We want to promote the great people who are part of our school community. We want to challenge everyone in our school to do what they need to do to help make a difference in our school. The strength of our school comes from the support that goes towards our greatest assets at King Edward, our students. Because of our students and their willingness to be involved, understanding, respectful, inclusive and cooperative all acts towards helping someone; big or small is making a difference for the better! Ideally, our main goal is to develop a sustainable belief in our school that we all can make things better, if we all work together. Through additional incentives and opportunities to promote and celebrate the great things that are happening at our school, we will impact student engagement at school that will ultimately improve academic engagement as well. We want to have a sustainable student-led character counts program in place by the end of the school year that we will be able to continue to grow and improve for years to come. It won’t happen overnight, but helping all of our students go M.A.D. at King Edward will be well worth the effort!

Have an idea or a vision that you would like to see become a reality? Post your ideas here at https://gokelions.wordpress.com/make-a-difference-project/ and let’s get talking about going M.A.D. and make a difference at King Edward!

Hospice Holiday – Destiny in 6M is about to release a project that challenges King Edward to help provide some holiday cheer to a local Windsor Hospice facility. Over the holidays, Destiny and some of her friends will be visiting the hospice facility to spread some holiday cheer. More details to follow as they become available.

Blankets for Buddies – 7M has taken on the challenge of raising money for the Windsor Humane Society who needs to keep their rescued animals fed and warm for the winter months. The class has been collecting money and in return, students who show their support are allowed to participate in a crazy hat / pajamas day in early December.

Caps for Cancer – Ardijan and Max in 5Mhave been collecting plastic bottle caps to help raise funds for a student who is currently going through chemotherapy and for every cap collected, the student is able to exchange them for money to help cover his medical costs.

The grade 6 students of King Edward have a shared vision of helping 40 young boys and girls aged 4-13 who live in an orphanage in Kenya. They do not have the resources we have that many of us take for granted and we have a chance to bring a little sunshine into their lives. We are asking for your help to collect a small list of essentials that we can collect and fit into two large garbage bags, which we will pack and send to Kenya via Alina’s father, who will be going to Kenya on October 20th. When Alina’s dad returns, he will be able to tell us more of what the orphanage needs and hopefully we can continue to support them in any way we can. If you are able and/or willing to offer any of the following items to our goal (to help support the 40 students who live in the orphanage) we would appreciate the support.

Thanks for helping us help others and to show that King Edward is MAD! – Making A Difference.

We have added some more pictures of the sights and sounds of how students at King Edward have been M.A.D. all year.
